Alabama Surgical Associates (ASA) in Huntsville provides General Surgery services to the communities of North Alabama, Southern Tennessee and beyond.  Our American Board of Surgery certified surgeons specialize in advanced laparoscopic surgical procedures.  These laparoscopic procedures include Roux-en-y gastric bypass, adjustable gastric banding, biliopancreatic diversion with duodenal switch, partial gastrectomy, Nissen fundoplication (heartburn/hiatal hernia), cholecystectomy (gallbladder), splenectomy, liver biopsy, small bowel resection, appendectomy,  colectomy (colon), hernia repair and others.

     ASA has established a comprehensive laparoscopic bariatric program. We have partnered with the Bariatric Wellness Institute and Crestwood Hospital to provide a range of services meeting the special needs of our patients.  Since 1998, ASA has created partnerships establishing lifelong, lifestyle changes through surgical excellence.  Over 1,900 laparoscopic bariatric (weight loss) surgeries have been performed. Over 98% of patients are managed with either same day discharge or an overnight stay in the hospital following surgery (23 hour observation).  Most people are able to return to work within 1 to 2 weeks following surgery.
